The Story Behind Ruthipedia™
Your Journey
My life has been deeply rooted in sports since the moment I first stepped onto the court. As a multi-sport athlete at Colorado State College, I balanced tennis, volleyball, basketball, softball, and field hockey. These experiences instilled in me a foundation of discipline, teamwork, and resilience that shaped my future. My collegiate journey was the starting point of a lifelong commitment to empowering others through sports.
Over the years, I’ve transitioned from being an athlete to becoming a coach, mentor, and innovator. Programs like BYOP® (Bring Your Own Parent®) and GoKids Youth Sports™ embody my belief in the transformative power of sports for families and communities. Ruthipedia™ represents the culmination of these experiences—a platform to share my story and the stories of countless individuals who have inspired me along the way.

How It Began
In January 2021, I reconnected on Zoom with Pam Brant, famously known as "Volleyball and Sunsets." Pam was working on an e-magazine that highlighted volleyball stories alongside recommendations for places to eat, stay, and vacation—specifically tied to volleyball events.
By February 2022, Pam published her second issue of Who’s Who in Volleyball, featuring a dear friend, teammate, and legendary player, Flo Hyman. Titled Everybody Should Know Flo, this issue showcased Flo’s monumental contributions to volleyball, the Title IX movement, and her transition into the entertainment industry. Pam’s work inspired me to launch Ruthipedia™—a platform to honor stories like Flo’s and celebrate the legacies that have shaped volleyball and beyond.
Pam’s research revealed numerous references to my work on platforms like Google and ChatGPT, including BYOP®, GoKids Youth Sports™, RNN Sports Gym™, and more. These findings solidified the idea for Ruthipedia™, which officially launched on January 1, 2025. The site also reflects my commitment to sharing history, training methodologies, certification programs, and educational videos. These resources are designed to help athletes achieve success while nurturing a lifelong passion for sports.
When Pam shifted her focus, she introduced me to Rumond Pitt, founder of IBelieveSports, an e-magazine that covers global volleyball stories, recruiting insights, and community-driven articles. Rumond has since become a key collaborator, promoting milestones such as the 60th anniversary celebration of the 1964 Women’s USA Olympic team and spotlighting the 26 Black USA Volleyball Olympians. His work exemplifies the storytelling and advocacy that Ruthipedia™ aims to amplify.

Inspiration for Ruthipedia™
Ruthipedia™ was created to leave a lasting legacy. This isn’t just a website—it’s a hub for education, inspiration, and empowerment. I envisioned a space where athletes, parents, and coaches could access resources, celebrate volleyball’s rich history, and connect with a global community.
Inspired by pioneers like Flo Hyman and the mentors who shaped my journey, Ruthipedia™ pays tribute to the power of mentorship and the shared knowledge that drives progress.
Key Influences
My path has been guided by extraordinary role models, including Dr. Karol Kahrs, Dr. Sue Garrison, Dr. Donna Lopiano, Dr. Hallie Poindexter, Bertha Lucas, Marilyn McReavey, Mary Jo Peppler, Billie Jean King, Joan Joyce, Pat Summitt, and Eunice Kennedy Shriver. These women exemplified perseverance, innovation, and the importance of uplifting others.
Equally influential were leaders like Dr. Jim E. Coleman, Coach Tom Landry, Doug Single, Dr. Arie Selinger, and Dr. Tom Songster. Pivotal moments, such as organizing the 60th-anniversary Olympian celebration and developing virtual programs during COVID, reminded me of the power of community and storytelling. Ruthipedia is my way of honoring these influences while paving the way for future generations.
